Daniele - Saint Leger to Chagny

It was hard to get out of our very comfortable cabin this morning. We drew the drapes so we could watch at water level as we glide along. We had gone through 3 locks before we finished breakfast!
The next lock we got off the boat and walked the path along the canal. The morning was beautiful, and still a bit crisp. Perfect for walking 5km till the boat caught up. It's Sunday, so lots of people walking, cycling and fishing along the canal.
Later on we left the canal and walked up to the Chateau de Santenay for a wine tasting. All of the white wine in Burgundy is made from Chardonnay grapes, and the red from Pinot Noir. The difference is in the "terroir" which is the soil, the weather, etc. Anything that goes into making the wine. Because this was a hot summer, harvest was early, so is already over. And all the red wine grapes are picked by hand! We tasted 2 white and 2 red wines, all very different.
Then back to the boat for lunch. Absolutely amazing lunch; scallops with oyster mushrooms, then guinea fowl with potatoes and asparagus. A cheese course from the Loire valley, then panna cotta for dessert. With wine pairings again.I'm ready for a nap, but working on the blog first!
